A UNIQUE COMPLETE COLLECTION OF BROOKLANDS anual entry pass BADGES along with GUESTS BROOCHES to the former racing circuit. The entire run 'built-up' over many years from the opening of the circuit in 1907 untill the last issue of 1942...
ALL the Members' badges & Guests brooches are in gilt brass and have the makers particulars and issue numbers on the reverse, the obverse are defined in bright vitreous coloured enamels (most of the makers are now long gone and unfortunatly the numbers are no longer traceable as all records were lost long ago according to The Brooklands Museum Trust., however if a family still holds these then of course this is good provenance to the original owner/s).
The "complete" collection Ex.*'The Steering Wheel Club, London', provenance provided from the former owners, RM (Sotheby's) Inc. and Bonhams and other auctions. Cost price at Bonhams on 3/7/09 was £8,313.00 (Gross). Accourding to Toby Wilson head of the auctions automobilia dept. the original **1916 badge is worth about a third of the hammer price, so this brings down the value of this collection to approx £6,000 (not taking into consideration auction fees and near to £400 import tax paid on top!). Some gaps in the collection have now been 'filled' making this a unique all membership run from 1907 thru to 1942. Offers over £7,500 will be considered.
**The 1916 badge is a direct copy from the original that came with this collection and which is being offered with the first complete (RM sale) collection.
Note: The two collections of badges are being sold direct by us with no middle parties involved, they will not be placed on eBay or any other auction sites, however they will be considered for a premier auction here in the UK. We sucessfully sold the ex Tom Delaney (Brooklands Hyper racing driver) collection that we purchased for a client at Bonhams a few years ago, however this was far from complete, however these certainly ARE!
Photos of all the above can be e-mailed to genuine interested parties, please make contact...
